Domaine Amiot Guy et Fils, France
Family run since 1920, this estate is made up of a number of prestigious parcels though it is mainly associated with the vineyards of Chassagne-Montrachet, one of the three legendary villages for white Burgundy. The owners believe in the preservation of old vines and the use of modern winemaking methods combined with knowledge passed down through generations. The result is rich, aromatic and balanced wines. The domaine continues to grow and develop and the more recent vintages have further cemented the reputation of this producer as being simply one of the best in Burgundy.

Domaine Antoine Ligeret, France
A Burgundian wine family since the early 18th century, the Ligeret family own a collection of vineyards which are the envy of other producers. Names such as Corton-Charlemagne, Gevrey-Chambertin and Nuits-Saint-Georges indicate this estate’s position in the first tier of Burgundy’s producers. The wines are invariably rich and full-bodied but never heavy and display fresh, vibrant fruit which is luscious yet held in check by good structure and balanced acidity. A superbly reliable source.

Domaine de La Charbonniere, France
Run by a father and his two daughters, this estate is described by Robert Parker as being ‘impeccably managed’. It has an impressive number of vineyards over two of the most famous wine regions of the southern Rhône Valley: Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Vacqueyras. The star of the show is La Grande Rue, nestled between La Tâche and Romanée-Conti, which was promoted to Grand Cru status in 1992. It is the only single-owned Grand Cru vineyard in Burgundy. George Wine Company, U.S.A.
George wine company only makes Pinot Noir from the heart of the Russian River Valley in California. Grapes are purchased from five farmers all in close proximity to one another. The wines are all made the same way, but differ in character because each grape grower has a different philosophy to farming. The wines have another thing in common: they are all superbly balanced, ripe but enlivened with zingy acidity. It has become a cult wine amongst the sommeliers of the country's best restaurants and is increasingly hard to come by.

Hestan Vineyards, U.S.A.
Hestan Vineyards is a family-owned estate with 52 low-yielding acres of Bordeaux varietals planted on the eastern slopes of Napa Valley. The owners are Stanley and Helen Cheng, whose passion for fine wines and love for Napa Valley led them to purchase the property in 1996. On January 18th, the Chardonnay was chosen to be served at the White House for China’s President Hu. From opulent to elegantly finessed, the wines of this estate pay homage to the artistic interplay between the vineyards’ diverse terroir and three winemakers’ stylistic interpretation.

Tenuta di Biserno, Italy
This is Lodovico Antinori’s super-Tuscan project, created together with his brother Piero Antinori and long time friend Michel Rolland. He created Tenuta on finding a very special parcel of land in the Maremma and before he sold Ornellaia to Robert Mondavi in 2001. Tenuta di Biserno is a fascinating project, bringing together the passion, experience and extraordinary skills of three master craftsmen. The vineyards enjoy a unique terroir, close to the cooling influence of the sea. Cabernet Franc is the dominant varietal and the wines produced have extraordinary depth, complexity, longevity and elegance all balanced by utterly delicious fresh black fruit.

Domaine Lucie et Auguste Lignier, France
Named after the two young children who will one day inherit the vineyards, this domaine is arousing considerable interest following the excellent showing of its more recent vintages. The credit is due to the children’s mother, Kellen Lignier, whose winemaking skill and passion are doing justice to the extraordinary collection of first-class vineyards that she has inherited. Many of these are parcels of old vines and happily the individuality and character of the resulting wines is being maintained while all the wines display a distinct elegance and greater accessibility than one would usually expect from Morey-St-Denis.

Domaine Serafin Pere & Fils, France
A series of successful vintages in the 1990s cemented Christian Sérafin's reputation as a serious Burgundy producer. His vineyards are renowned for being impeccably maintained and he refuses to fine or filter his wines in order to retain maximum character. Though the area under vine is small, there is a glorious selection of premier cru quality wines. His reputation continues to grow and his organically cultivated vineyards produce wines which are full-bodied and abundantly rich with noticeble spice and just the right amount of oak, ensuring great aging potential.

Domaine Mongeard Mugneret, France
Eugène Mongeard created the domaine in the 1920s and today it is run by his grandson Vincent. The three generations of winemakers have amasssed a property that is a truly splendid collection of Vosne Romanée premier and grand cru vineyards producing tiny quanities of superb wines. The wines are full, sturdy, well-coloured and concentrated.
